About Us

The Best Little Dog Shop in Devon

We believe that The Lyn Valley Dog House is the West Country's finest dog emporium. We stock a broad range of dog treats, accessories, toys and everything else that the discerning canine customer might desire, all sourced locally and from environmentally conscious providers where possible. As well as our online store here we have a physical shop in the bustling Lynton Old Quarter in the pretty town of Lynton on the North Devon coast.

Meet Mrs Dog House

My name is Jacquie, and I'm the dog mad owner behind Lynton and Lynmouth's dog emporium. The Lyn Valley Dog House, has been a dream of mine since moving to this beautiful part of the world from Gloucestershire. Lynton and Lynmouth are situated in an idyllic, dog-walking haven, with some of the most stunning countryside in the UK. Our human visitors are well catered for with many pubs, cafes, restaurants, and shops to choose from, so I wanted to create a place for dogs, with a wide range of natural treats, offering everything the visiting canine may want, as well as a few lovely souvenirs to take home (and eat later).

Being a dog owner myself (Dobbie, the poorly Jack Russell and a mad Springer called Mabel) I know how important it is to create a space for owners looking to buy a few special items that will enhance their dog's lives, whilst giving them somewhere to meet fellow like-minded dog lovers. My shop provides this physical space, and our lovely group of social media followers provides a similar community online. Please check our contact details below if you'd like to get involved. Nothing makes us happier than receiving pictures of our customers and their dogs!

Following our move last year, The Lyn Valley Dog House now has two public rooms, one for the deli, barkery and ice cream parlour and a second room for our boutique. The increased space allows us to showcase many more ranges, and we are very proud to feature the very best our South West small businesses can offer, to our customers. Beth from Rulyn Dog Grooming took over the kitchen in the new shop and is working 1-2 days a week making the dogs of Lynton and Lynmouth look very glamorous.

I work with several local accommodation providers to create welcome boxes for their furry visitors. These boxes are bespoke to the specific accommodation and we collaborate closely with the owners to provide a box that will meet the needs of their clientele.

Last year, we were invited to a champagne reception at the House of Lords after being named one of the top one hundred small businesses in the UK by Small Business Saturday and American Express! I was so thrilled to have been chosen to represent North Devon. It was the culmination of everything my supporters and I have been working towards for the last three years. Programmes like this are vital to supporting and raising awareness of smaller enterprises like ours.

This year, we lost Dexter. He has left such a hole in our lives and we still can’t believe he has gone. However, he is very much a part of the shop with The 3 Jacks (me, and my two JRT’s) launching this week and Dexter’s Pantry, our new range of dog food, will be in the shop very soon.

There are so many other things going on at the moment, so please subscribe to our newsletter (I promise not to spam you) and continue to follow us on social media xx
